about
Bjørn H. Kruse is educated at the UCLA, Calif., USA (1967 – 1968) and at Norges Musikkhøgskole where he took his composition graduation diploma in 1977. Professional musician in the USA 1968 – 71. Since 1972 he is working in Norway as a composer, arranger, adapter, producer and studio performing musician within most musical genres. His compositions have been performed in most European countries as well as in the USA and he has received numerous awards for his works. Since 1976 he is teaching at Norges Musikkhøgskole where he is professor emeritus.
About Nostos, this is what Bjørn H. Kruse says:
"The Greek term Nostos signifies 'recurrence'. The longing for earlier mental consciousnesses. After initial doubt and resistance the solo voice basculates into the mind's most profound chambers, plenteous with beauty and anxiety, ere shaking loose to escape recurrently into - maybe - a new awareness of doubt and resistance. Such is the idea of this psychodramatic composition model. Notwithstanding, this musical encounter must take place with one's own repertoire of remembrances readily present".
The opus was commissioned by Telemark Kammerorkester to Lars-Erik ter Jung and was premièred in November of 2002.
