about

19 March 2004, Oslo Cathedral.
On 19 March 2004 at 10 pm, Nils Henrik Asheim sat down at the organ of Oslo Cathedral to play an improvisational concert as part of the programme of the Oslo International Church Music Festival. At 11.03 pm he finished playing.
The result is captured on this disc.

Nils Henrik Asheim is a classically trained composer and organist who cultivates a personal style of improvisation, where he aims to unite elements from the symphonic organ tradition, the 20th
century avantgarde and the art of free improvisation. He appears as a solo artist, as on this recording, but also in various duo projects together with jazz, folk and electronica musicians. He has composed a number of works for chamber ensemble, orchestra, etc.
